Oregon State’s Damien Martinez.

Michigan already has one certified stud in Donovan Edwards, but an experienced complementary back to run between the tackles. Right now, the plan is for Kalel Mullings to take that job, but he has just 253 career rushing yards and isn’t the proven weapon that Martinez is. Of course, landing Martinez would be huge. He rushed for 1,185 yards at 6.1 a pop last season fits the mold of a bigger back standing at 6-foot and 232 pounds.

He and Edwards would be special. Of course, the offense next year will be run-heavy and both backs will be able to feature in their own way, it would be a match made in heaven for Michigan fans.

The big hurdle is Martinez could opt to reunite with his former coach in MSU’s Jonathan Smith in East Lansing.
