Ranking Michigan football 2024 season opponents by difficulty

The first newcomer to the conference! Putting USC over Washington and Oregon might be controversial, but I truly believe that the Trojans pose a bigger threat to Michigan than either of their West Coast brothers.

The biggest question for USC will be the performance of quarterback Miller Moss. The junior signal caller played incredibly well in the team’s bowl game but will need to prove it wasn’t a fluke. History is on his side, however, as Lincoln Riley has developed each of his last four starting quarterbacks (Kyler Murray, Baker Mayfield, Jalen Hurts, Caleb Williams) into terrific players. On the other hand, the defense is a looming question and will need to toughen up if the Trojans want to seriously compete in the run-heavy Big Ten.
