Perez among three drivers summoned by stewards after qualifying

Sergio Perez, Nico Hulkenberg and Pierre Gasly have been summoned to the stewards for separate investigations after qualifying for the Australian Grand Prix.

The Red Bull driver and Haas’ Hulkenberg will take a trip to the race stewards over an alleged impeding incident during Q1 at Albert Park, an incident that was not picked up by F1 broadcasting.

Mexican Perez went on to qualify third on the grid for Sunday’s race while Hulkenberg failed to progress to Q2 and will line up 16th, should neither be punished.

However, in their verdict, the stewards slapped Perez with a three-place grid drop for the incident, dropping him to sixth.

Their full verdict is available here.

Gasly in hot water?

Pierre Gasly looks likely be handed a punishment by the stewards having strayed across the pit exit line during Q1.

The Frenchman was seen looking in his left wing mirror when exiting the pits when he moved left of the exit line before turning into the first corner.

As this is a safety regulation, mitigating circumstances are unlikely to be employed by the stewards, though his starting position of 17th is better than only two other drivers.

The verdict in the Gasly summons is available to read here.
