‘Moving like prime Zidane’ – Arsenal fans in love with Ben White’s silky smooth skill against Luton

Arsenal may have scored two goals in the first half against Luton but it was another moment that has left Gunners fans swooning.

Goals from Martin Odegaard and then an own goal from the Hatters’ Daiki Hashioka saw the Gunners go into the break 2-0 up, but Arsenal fans on social media also loved a seriously silky skill from Ben White during the game.

The defender received the ball in Luton’s half as the Gunners tried to mount an attack but was quickly rushed onto by the Hatters stars around him.

But as Alfie Doughty went to slide in to take the ball off him and nick the ball, White coolly shook him off by turning back the other way before slipping off to continue up the field.

He then passed it to Reiss Nelson, who gave it to Kai Havertz who went on to get a shot away.

The move may not have led to a goal, but Arsenal fans who spotted the moment have gone wild for it on social media.

“Ben White moving like prime Zidane,” one fan wrote on X, comparing his defender to the iconic French midfielder Zinedine Zidane.

Referring to White’s admission that he doesn’t watch football, a second said: “Imagine how good Ben White would be if he just loved football…”

“Ben White definitely got a little Brazilian in him,” a third added.

White has been a key cog in Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal side this term as the Gunners aim for the Premier League title for the second year in a row.
