Michael Chandler and Conor McGregor appear to have the same information about their upcoming UFC fight.

‘Notorious’ recently revealed he had received a call about facing Chandler this summer, but he stopped short of revealing an exact date for his first fight in three years.

A few days later, Chandler claims he has also spoken with MMA’s premier promotion and now the biggest fight of his career is official.

“I’ve got the official announcement,” he told TMZ Sports on Friday.

“It’s happening this summer. I can’t tell you the actual date but it’s happening this summer. The official status is we have an agreement, we are fighting this summer.

“We’ll let the court of public opinion speculate on what the date is, but it’s definitely this summer. We’re giving you a window that we’re going to be fighting in.”

‘Iron’ has sat out since a November 2022 loss to Dustin Poirier specifically waiting for McGregor to return, but it’s been held up by issues away from fighting.

He added: “It’s been an interesting ride, it’s been a fun ride but it’s what I signed up for.

“We are getting really close. He’s starting training, I’m starting training and we’re going to collide this summer – so it’s going to be a lot of fun.”

Chandler concluded the conversation by revealing talks are still ongoing about a weight class for the fight.

However, he did claim they most likely won’t fight at lightweight, the division where both men had their last UFC outings.

“Conor and I are about the same size at all times,” Chandler said.

“We’ve fought in the same weight class our entire lives. It doesn’t matter what the weight class is.

“All that matters is the confines of competition inside mixed martial arts under a specific rule set.

“I’m going to go out there and take his head off.”
