Man City fans banner slamming increase in season ticket prices spotted at Arsenal clash

Manchester City fans aren’t happy that season ticket prices are going up, and they had a banner to show it at the Etihad Stadium.

Before the huge Premier League title race clash against Arsenal, the 1894 supporters group unfurled the slogan directed at the club’s owners.

The banner read: “Record profits but record prices. Stop exploiting our loyalty.”

The banner followed the Premier League champions’ decision to raise season ticket prices by an average of five per cent next year.

This has caused anger among the City supporters, who feel they are being priced out from watching their club.

The Citizens announced an incredible revenue of £712million in their last set of accounts, yet the price of a season ticket is still going up.

The match at the Etihad was the first home game since the changes were emailed to supporters, and fans made it very clear what they thought about the change in prices.

The cost of living in the UK has increased in the last few years, with supporters frustrated at the prices of season tickets going up. However, the club argues the price rises are due to rising operational costs, inflation and because other Premier League clubs have done the same.

But fact it’s been done without consultation has annoyed supporter groups.

Ahead of the Arsenal match, Pep Guardiola was asked about the situation and expressed sympathy for the fans.

“I know it is a sensitive issue, but on Sunday, they will be with us.

“Now with the last games of the Premier League at home with our people I’m pretty sure they will give us what we need to perform to our best. Right now, every game is so important.”

And the City fans were with his team, but the Citizens couldn’t break Arsenal down and were held to a 0-0 draw to ensure that the title race remains wide open.
