I’m a Man United fan but would take Arsenal beating us in May, all Red Devils fans will agree

talkSPORT presenter and Manchester United fan Andy Goldstein has insisted he would happily see his side lose to Arsenal in May.

United face Arsenal in the second-to-last game of the Premier League season at Old Trafford in what could be a seismic clash in the title race with the Gunners battling Liverpool and Manchester City for the top prize.

With just three points separating the top three, any dropped points could be hugely significant with United also playing Liverpool in the final nine games of the season.

But talkSPORT’s Goldstein, who is a huge Red Devils fan, has insisted he would rather see his side taste defeat to Arsenal if it meant that Liverpool or City do not win the league.

Speaking alongside a flabbergasted Gabby Agbonlahor on talkSPORT Drive on Tuesday afternoon, Goldstein said: “One of the games that Arsenal have got in their run-in, the penultimate game, is away at Manchester United.

“As a United fan, I hope we lose. Because I don’t want City or Liverpool winning the title.”

Agbonlahor was shocked and replied: “But what about that rivalry with Arsenal all them years ago?”

Goldstein flat out said: “Don’t care.

“If Liverpool win the title, I’ll never hear the end of it because Liverpool win the title. Klopp’s last year, never hear the end of it, and they also equal United’s 20 league titles.

Agbonlahor seemed convinced and said: “I think as well, Man City aren’t the one people want as it will be four in a row for the first time.”

Speaking about the fact that no side has won the Premier League more than three times in a row, Goldstein said: “Yeah, I don’t want that.

“We have done three in a row twice but no one has ever done four.”

Jeff Stelling calls Manchester’s City’s bore draw with Arsenal one of the ‘worst games of the season’ and condemns the gunners for their lack of bravery

When asked if his opinion is shared among the United fanbase, Goldstein insisted: “Yes.

“There is not one United fan that would want to beat Arsenal so Liverpool and City win [the Premier League].”

Whether or not United fans do want their club to lose to Arsenal, the Red Devils will have a huge say over who wins the title this season.

With Arsenal and Liverpool coming up, the only club they are not set to face is City, who took six points off them this season with wins home and away.

Arsenal beat them at the Emirates Stadium earlier in the season whereas Liverpool could only muster a draw at Anfield in December.

With Old Trafford playing host to both reverse fixtures, Erik ten Hag will be desperate for victory regardless of what is going on above him in the table.

The Dutchman has already come under pressure this season and has insisted his side are still in the fight for a top-four finish despite being 11 points behind fourth-placed Aston Villa.

A Europa League spot might be the best that United can realistically attain with nine games left and are four points clear of seventh-placed West Ham.
