Hamilton in Mercedes vow ahead of final season

Lewis Hamilton is determined to continue enjoying “moments” with Mercedes during his final season with the team.

Hamilton will depart Mercedes after 12 seasons at the end of the year to join Ferrari for 2025, bringing to a close a partnership that has delivered 82 race wins and six World Championships, at the time of writing,

The Briton has stressed that joining Ferrari was a “childhood dream”, with it being rare that driver moves are announced a full calendar year ahead of actually happening.

Mercedes is seemingly not in contention for Hamilton to add to his tally of world titles with the team after the first two races of the 2024 season, in which he has finished seventh and ninth, but Hamilton is still keen to leave on a positive note.

“It is really just about how we go about our processes,” Hamilton told media including RacingNews365 before the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix.

“It is how we work together as a team, we didn’t win the championship last year, but coming second felt like a real triumph for us, from a car that we were really struggling with to then to also fighting in the top three in the Drivers’ Championship.

“Obviously, it was a long way from first, but there were still lots of wins last year, and it is really about giving our all and knowing that we didn’t leave any store unturned.

“Then it is about embracing and enjoying the moments, every moment that I get with the team in the garage, or through qualifying and just being present.

“I think it is easy in life not to be present in the sense of being distracted by all these other things, and so I am really enjoying engaging and working with this group and nothing feels like it has really changed.

“There is a lot of love here.”
