Former Michigan football OL Jon Runyan Jr. signs with New York Giants

From counted out his first three years in Ann Arbor to a two-year starter at left tackle to being a late-round NFL draft pick to becoming a multi-year starter with the Green Bay Packers — Jon Runyan Jr. has had doubters yet excelled at every level.

A sixth-round draft pick in 2020, not many expected Runyan to stick in the NFL, yet, after moving inside to guard, he’s been a starter for the premier NFC North franchise. With NFL free agency starting on Monday, guards are getting a premium, and he’s getting his according to ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter.

Runyan is reportedly signing a $30 million deal for three years with the New York Giants.

With the signing, Runyan may be reteaming with former Michigan football teammate Ben Bredeson, who has moved all around the offensive line for the Giants. However, Bredeson is also a free agent, so it’s also possible that Runyan may be taking his spot.
