Former Hamilton ally makes motorsport return

Lewis Hamilton’s former trainer Angela Cullen has made her return to motorsport, and has been helping IndyCar driver Marcus Armstrong.

2024 is Armstrong’s first full-time season in the North American single-seater series, having only competed on the road courses and street circuits for Chip Ganassi Racing.

The Kiwi and ex-F2 driver remains with Chip Ganassi this year as a full-time driver, meaning he’ll also race on ovals.

“She’s just been helping me out over the off-season,” Armstrong told NBC. “She’s a Kiwi as well, so we linked up over the off-season and so far so good.

“I’ve gained a bit of weight finally. You know, these cars are animals to drive, so you’ve got to be in top form to be able to properly wrestle around.

“So she’s been a great help to me and we’re just trying to progress through so we can win some races.”

Cullen was Hamilton’s trainer for seven years and was someone the Mercedes driver trusted deeply in the paddock. However, they split ways in the early stages of 2023 but remain close friends.
