Felipe Melo has zero sympathy for Dani Alves and Robinho: “They have to pay for what they’ve done”

The Brazilian soccer world is in a bittersweet state. They’ve just seen their next star, Endrick, announce himself on the European stage. They’ve also seen two of their most notable players of the past two decades be convicted of rape.

Dani Alves’ and Robinho’s cases bring about nauseating details, and completely destroy the reputations of both players.

Felipe Melo speaks about Dani Alves and Robinho

One of their national team compatriots, Felipe Melo, minced no words when asked about the situations by Globo Sporte.

I have a 15-year-old daughter. If they had done that with my daughter, I don’t think I would be here to give this interview. I believe we must respect other human beings, we must respect women, we must respect men… they have to pay for what they did. And let it serve as a lesson so that others do not do it. This is very serious.

Melo made 22 appearances for Brazil from 2009 through 2010 and was teammates with both Alves and Robinho. He has spent a lot of his club career playing for Brazilian teams.

He’s been at Fluminense since 2022 and continues to make regular appearances despite now being 40 years old.
