Coventry fans think justice was served after Wolves star got away with shocking kick to face before FA Cup comeback

Coventry City’s Callum O’Hare’s nose was left in a right mess after being kicked in the face by Nelson Semedo, but he had the last laugh as his side progressed to the FA Cup semi-finals.

The Wolves defender went for a 50/50 with O’Hare in the Coventry half and connected with a boot to his head while the Championship side had a one-goal lead.

Semedo was seen wincing and thought he would be in trouble, but referee Sam Barrott and VAR didn’t punish the defender.

O’Hare required medical attention to his nose, which was left with a huge cut on it.

Speaking on talkSPORT’s commentary, ex-Premier League striker Dean Ashton admitted Wolves were lucky to keep 11 men on the pitch.

He said: “I’m amazed the referee didn’t even give a free-kick because the boot is very, very high.

“There is a graze on the nose. Semedo is very lucky.”

What made it even more controversial is the fact Wolves equalised shortly after through Rayan Ait-Nouri and Hugo Bueno then put the hosts 2-1 ahead.

Then, incredibly, Coventry star Ellis Simms equalised with his second goal of the game in injury time, then Haji Wright scored a late winner to send the Sky Blues to Wembley with a 3-2 win.

And these fans felt justice was served.

Speaking on X, formerly known as Twitter, one said: “Justice served as Semedo didn’t get the clearest red card ever at 0-1.”

While another concluded: “Justice was done. Wolves should have Semedo sent off.”

A third put: “A bit of justice there for Coventry. Well deserved.”

talkSPORT’s Ashton also couldn’t believe the turnaround.

Coventry were 2-1 down heading into stoppage time and scored twice to seal a place at Wembley.

And Ashton was blown away, he said: “Astonishing. Absolutely astonishing.”
