Chris Eubank Jr appears to confirm rumours he will fight Terence Crawford in blockbuster summer showdown

Chris Eubank Jr has appeared to confirm rumours that he will box Terence Crawford in the summer.

Following on from reports by iFL TV claiming Eubank Jr and Crawford are ‘in talks’ to face each other, ‘Next Gen’ took to social media to share a mock fight poster.

According to the report, Crawford will go up two weight classes to box Eubank Jr at middleweight in the summer – a detail that is included in Eubank Jr’s flyer.

Both boxers are said to be ‘close to agreeing terms’ with the date and venue still to be confirmed.

If they do get a deal over the line then it will put 2023 Ring Magazine trainer of the year, Brian ‘Bomac’ Mcintyre, in an awkward position.

As it stands, he trains both men having recently linked up with Eubank Jr ahead of his rematch with Liam Smith.

Eubank Jr will surely want to continue working with ‘Bomac’ after putting on a career-best performance under his watch but the American coach has led Crawford since he was 17.

‘Bud’ hasn’t fought since unifying all four major sanctioning body belts at welterweight against Errol Spence in July of last year.

He was expected to rematch his fierce rival in his next outing but that fight has been shelved due to Spence recently undergoing cataract surgery.

Crawford was among the names in the running to box Canelo Alvarez on May 4 but it appears Jaime Munguia will face the Mexican superstar on that date instead.

Eubank Jr has also seen a big fight fall by the wayside recently.

He was slated to finally square off against Conor Benn in early 2024 but ‘The Destroyer’ is reportedly locked into negotiations with Manny Pacquiao.

Now, it seems Eubank Jr and Crawford are entertaining the idea of fighting each other with their options stretched thin.

Ben Shalom, who worked with Eubank Jr for the two fights with Smith, previously teased the idea of bringing Crawford to the UK to face off with the Brighton boxer.

Speaking to The Sun in February 2022, Shalom said: “I’d like Terence to come and fight Eubank in the UK.

“Obviously he’d have to come up in weight, but I think that’s a massive fight.”

Besides that comment, little was mentioned about the fight before today.
