Ozil retired in March 2023 after citing multiple injuries that affected his playing time while at Istanbul Basaksehir.

While injuries might have affected his performances on the pitch late into his career, there is no denying that in his pomp there were not many better than Ozil.

He spent eight years in north London but the midfielder might have been at his best while at Real Madrid where he partnered Cristiano Ronaldo in one of their most deadly partnerships.

In three seasons at the Bernabeu, he provided Ronaldo with 27 assists – only Karim Benzema managed more to the Portuguese superstar at Madrid (31 assists in ten seasons).
