Ben Whittaker looks shocked as he’s hit clean by Leon Willings while outrageously showboating during victory

Leon Willings was defiant during Ben Whittaker’s showboating win, to the surprise of the talented star.

Whittaker has developed somewhat of a reputation for his showboating in the ring, having left a certain portion of fans fuming for his antics in previous fights after taunting his opponents.

It was no different for the talented youngster in his latest outing against Willings on Sunday night at London’s O2 Arena as he competed on the undercard of Fabio Wardley’s clash with Frazer Clarke.

It began from the very off, as he danced at the end of the opening round following an impressive knockdown after a dominant start.

But in the second round, Willings was able to impressively land shots on the rising star despite his dominance and flamboyant showboating early on, leaving Whittaker with a shocked look on his face.

The theme continued with his rival resiliently fighting back despite being under constant threat, and having taken the contest on extremely short notice.

The 26-year-old seemed to be surprised that punches came back, but nonetheless he cruised to victory on the scorecards, with the judge scoring the contest 78-73 in his favour.

Fans were once again quick to react to the entertaining star’s antics during the clash.

A fan wrote: “Whittaker is obviously talented and exciting to watch but he’s so unlikeable.”

Another agreed: “All this bulls*** for a guy with six fights just puts me off him and I want to see someone take his head off.”

A fan also wrote: “I would love to see Whittaker to get sparked when he does that.”

One even went as far as suggesting: “Whittaker is clearly talented but I can’t stand all that showboating b****cks. Can’t wait till someone lamps him out cold.”

A viewer even claimed: “Would much rather watch Leon Willings fight than Ben Whittaker!”

Fans continued to fume, with one concluding: “Clever s***. Obviously gonna win. No respect.”

Although some fans disagreed, with one writing: “You’re lying if you say you don’t enjoy watching Ben Whittaker box.”

Another took the same view adding: “Ben Whittaker is the most entertaining boxer in this generation!”

‘Benzo’ is clearly confident and will be delighted to have banked another set of rounds for his seventh professional victory.

But Willings’ resilience will provide a valuable lesson for the former British Olympian who is still at the early stages of his progression.
