Alex Morgan recreates iconic celebration by posting video chugging from USWNT Gold Cup trophy

Alex Morgan christened the inaugural CONCACAF W Gold Cup trophy in the most authentic way she could. With her play on the field and her celebrations afterward, the iconic American striker proved she’s still got it.

Evoking the memories of the USWNT‘s 2022 triumph in a previous version of the same tournament, she filled the massive trophy with alcohol and went to work, documenting it all in a viral video that fans could not get enough of.

The party kicked off after Lindsey Horan‘s header lifted the United States to a 1-0 win over impressive Brazil, a statement victory to open the Emma Hayes era as the four-time World Cup champions prepare for the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Alex Morgan: Back by popular demand

The San Diego Wave star captioned her celebratory video on Twitter/X by referencing her previous work, writing “Back by popular demand … 7 Mich Ultras” with trophy and winking face emojis.

In 2022, she went viral for investigating how many margaritas could fit inside the CONCACAF W Championship Trophy. Based on her research, it seems the new trophy holds a few less beers, but it was more than enough for a lively postgame celebration.

The official USWNT Instagram account also published photos of 34-year-old Morgan pouring champagne into the trophy, which was shared by young stars Sophia Smith, 23, and Trinity Rodman, 21, who are barely old enough to drink.

While her celebration made its way back by popular demand, Morgan herself was not originally supposed to compete in the tournament.

She was added as an injury replacement when Mia Fishel suffered an ACL tear, which is why she had to wear number 7 instead of her classic number 13. Morgan scored two goals on the way to the title.
